Register here for SoTA’s Human Augmentation Hackathon on 26-27th July.
Dear SoTA,
The goal of virtually every company in the AI space is to automate the economy. The problem: when capital can bypass talent and labour—that’s you—why pay for it? On our current trajectory, the rewards of AI could multiply at the top, leaving you and most people out of the economic equation.
But products like Cursor demonstrate a different path.
In 2024, Cursor became the fastest startup to achieve $100m ARR. They did this by augmenting humans–keeping them in the driver’s seat–instead of replacing them. Today, engineers everywhere are better at their jobs because they have Cursor. Rather than automating the human in the driver’s seat, Cursor expanded their capability.
In this hackathon, you’ll try to build the next Cursor: a tool that fosters human-AI symbiosis. What you build will expand our capabilities, rather than writing us out of the story. Human augmentation, not human automation; copilots, not autopilots; “symbiosis”.
Success will be judged against the following criteria:
Is your demo better than alternative methods of achieving the same result?
Would your demo be worse without the AI component?
Would your demo be worse without a human?
Our prizes include:
£1,000 + one week’s office space at Workshop Labs in central London
£500
£250
